Free Website Edits? Are You Crazy?

Perhaps 🙂

Free Website Edits

Look, we have been there and get it.

Running a business takes a lot of time. Who truly has the time to manage a website, let alone make the website edits necessary to keep it from being stale?

Something as little as updating website images and/or content can help. Heck, even changing a color or page layout will help keep things looking fresh on your business website.

Instead of doing this yourself or paying someone else to do it, just send us a Support Ticket (direct link to us will be on your dashboard) and let us know what you need.

What Is A Free Website Edit?

A Website Edit Is...

As a "Rule of Thumb", website edits take ~20 minutes and can include the following:

Changing out images (provided by client)

Updating content (provided by client)

Making simple HTML/CSS modifications for a minor design change

Pointing to what page you want clients to land on when they visit your website

Reordering a website menu item

Changing the size and/or color of the font

Adjusting plugin and/or widget settings

Hiding/displaying an existing page to the public

A Website Edit Is NOT...

As a "Rule Of Thumb", anything that would take >30 minutes is not considered an edit, it's a project:

SEO

Blogging

Finding Images

Moderating Comments

Creating new pages

Fixing premium themes or plugins like shopping carts, membership management, and other complex commercial plugins is not included*

Editing or troubleshooting of custom themes or customized commercial themes is not included as a support feature*

(the originating theme/plugin developer is the best source for these)*

FAQ

  • A Website Edit typically takes ~20 minutes and can be any of the following:

    • Updating content (provided by client)
    • Changing out images (provided by client)
    • Modifying HTML/CSS for a minor design change
    • Reordering a menu
    • Adjusting plugin settings

  • We will notify you ASAP if a request does not fall into the Website Edit request guidelines.
  • Not sure? Clients can feel free to feel free to ask us and we can let you know. Who knows, we may just surprise you!

  • We found many clients usually just need 1-3 website edits/month.  Instead of paying someone else to do it (or spending their time on it), we decided this is how we can help out our clients. We are all in this together!
  • Simply put, it's a good way to say "Thank You" to our Loyal Clients.

There are multiple ways to submit a Website Edit Ticket:

  • A Web Scout icon will be installed on your admin bar (top of page), click on that icon and you will be directed to the Web Scout Website Edit Ticket submittal page.
  • If you do not have access to your WordPress dashboard, you can also log into your Client Area and submit a Website Ticket through there as well.
  • You can request 1 Website Edit per ticket, and have 2 Open Website Edit tickets at a time. This allows our team to work efficiently while minimizing backlog.
  • Keep in mind the edits should not take longer than 30 minutes (if it does, it would be considered a project in which our developers will need to charge for the work if you still choose to have it done...nothing will be done without your approval).
  • We will notify you ASAP if a request does not fall into the Website Edit request guidelines.
  • NOTE: If you request multiple edits, it may take a few more days to get everything complete since this is a bonus item we are offering.
  • We typically aim for completion within 1-2 business days (since this is a bonus service we ask for your patience).

  • If you have a project (more than 30 minutes) that needs to be done, one of our developers that should already familiar with your website would be able to work on it at discounted rates.
  • Good (clever) question. All edit requests need to be standalone requests and can not be part of a "larger" project.

  • Please ask if you are unsure. We will take other things into consideration (e.g. how many website edits you have asked for, how long you have been with us, etc.)
  • If you have a project (more than 30 minutes) that needs to be done, one of our developers that should already familiar with your website would be able to work on it at discounted rates.

  • The following are items that do not fall under the Website Edit category:
    • Blogging / SEO
    • Fixing premium themes or plugins like shopping carts, membership management and other complex commercial plugins is not included (the originating theme/plugin developer is the best source for this).
    • Editing or troubleshooting of custom themes or customized commercial themes is not included as a support feature (the originating theme developer is the best source for this).
    • Requests that will take more than 30 minutes. This is considered project work in which our developers will need to charge for the work if you still choose to have it done (nothing will be done without your approval).
  • We will notify you ASAP if a request does not fall into the Website Edit request guidelines.
  • Not sure? Clients can feel free to ask us and we can let you know. Who knows, we may just surprise you!
  • Sorry, but Website Edits can not be carried over to the following month. Most clients typically request 1-3 edits/month, so you should be fine 🙂
